Coach Mike Stevens
The Superkids Multisport Youth Development Team Coach has over 20 years of experience competing at the elite or expert level. He is a Certified USA Cycling and NICA/PICL Mountain Bike Level 1 Coach and achieved his Pro Mountain Bike Race License in 2011. He is a former Certified Indoor Cycling Instructor at the Phoenixville YMCA.
In 1999, Mike quit smoking, lost 50 pounds, and ran his first mile, followed by a marathon later that year. Six marathons later, including Boston, Mike finished IronMan Arizona in 2008.
In 2018, Mike achieved the Cat 1 Expert Mid-Atlantic Super Series 50+ Mountain Bike Race Championship, finished Top 3 in the PACX 50+ Cyclocross Championships as the Pennsylvania State Champion, and was awarded PACX Masters Cyclocross Rider of the Year.
Mike has competed in over 300 cycling, running, and triathlon events, consistently ranking among the highest in his age group and never dropping out of a race. Mike was a competitive swimmer before high school, when he earned a letter in the swimming team. He and Marla have been Co-Community Coordinators for the Healthy Kids Running Series at Charlestown Park in the Spring and Fall since 2016. Their daughters Rachael and Zoe are SuperKids and have been competing in running since they were two years old.
Junior Coach Rachael Stevens
Rachael is 14 years old and started running with the Healthy Kids Running Series when she was two. She started biking when she was three and completed her first triathlon at the age of five. Rachael joined Superkids Multisport when she was seven years old and was coached by the founder, Coach Richard Gossow, until Coach Mike Stevens took over the program in 2021.
Rachael qualified to join the Phoenixville YMCA swim team at the age of 8. She participated in Little Bellas mountain bike mentoring for girls from the age of seven to twelve and is now a Junior mentor for the program at Lake Nockamixon. Rachael raced for the Phoenxiville Inferno middle school mountain bike team. She has participated in several cyclocross training camps. Rachael was trained in track and field by Coach Woot with PA United and ran cross-country for Coventry Christian School's middle school. She currently plays soccer and volleyball.
Rachael has completed over 200 running, cycling, swimming, and triathlon events, consistently ranking among the top in her age group at local races. She has competed at the regional and national levels for triathlons, cyclocross, and mountain bike races. Rachael is the Patrol Leader with Scouts, reached the rank of Star, and was tapped to join the Order of the Arrow.
